Timbuktoons wins Gold and Silver

Vacation Surprise 2 and Mae Shares A Secret, two animated shorts produced for clients, have been selected by The International Academy of Visual Arts to receive silver and gold 2012 Davey Awards.

Two animated shorts produced by Timbuktoons have been selected by The International Academy of Visual Arts to receive silver and gold 2012 Davey Awards.

2012 Gold Davey Award
Mae Shares A Secret
is an animation produced in conjunction with COX Creative for The Women’s Center of Tarrant County.

The animated short is an age-appropriate video that teaches children about sexual abuse in a language they can easily understand.

2012 Silver Davey Award
Vacation Surprise 2: Trip to Peru
is an animation produced for child advocacy group, Compassion International.

The short educates families about their “Sponsor A Child” strategy to release children from poverty.

“What’s really rewarding is that both animations are part of our Cartoons With A Cause project,” said Timbuktoons owner and founder, Todd Hampson.

Cartoons With A Cause (CWAC) is an initiative at Timbuktoons to create family-friendly creative media for organizations helping children in the worst situations around the world to experience hope, love, knowledge, and encouragement.

“The Davey Awards honors creative work from small firms with big ideas. That fits us perfectly,” said Hampson. “Being a cloud based studio, size and location isn’t a problem for us. We can easily crew up or down based on the project needs and pull creative talent from anywhere.”

“That means we can offer fresh ideas, quick turnarounds and big city quality for small town budgets,” said Sean Copley, Creative Director. “Plus our customers say that working with us is like we’re in the next room.”

This year’s Davey Awards competition had nearly 4,000 entries from the US and around the world. The judging is by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, a “who’s who” in media, marketing and advertising.

“The technology and talent we use allows us to work with clients and studios from all over the world to produce affordable high quality media,” stated Copley. “It’s encouraging to be recognized for our team’s hard work and gratifying for our clients too.”

About The Davey Awards:
The Davey Awards exclusively honors the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agencies and companies in the world. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small firms do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller firms, where firms compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve.
