5-hour ENERGY Campaign

Darren Heater of DMHVP playing “Fix the Tired” the interactive touchscreen game Timbuktoons partnered with DMHVideo Production and Brightline Interactive to produce.

5-hour ENERGY wanted a fun interactive experience to show off their brand to NASCAR fans.

Client, Project: DMHVideo Production, Brightline Interactive, 5-hour ENERGY // art direction, character design, illustration, backgrounds, nested animation

Partnering with DMHVideo Production and Brightline Interactive, Timbuktoons produced assets and animations for an interactive touchscreen game linked to big screen televisions. The game was programmed by Brightline as part of 5-hour ENERGY’s “Fix the Tired” campaign and exhibit at NASCAR races.

Once the art direction was set and visual development completed, we created a series of character packs with props, walk cycles, states (awake, tired), poses as well as environments.

Challenge:

  • create the illusion of depth without the complexities of programming 3D space
  • create a large library of characters and props with quick turnaround and limited budget
  • create animation cycles for 7 characters, 4 poses each for 5 backgrounds

Solution:

  • created reoccurring characters with interchangeable props and poses within different environments
  • reused animation cycles within character packs to save time and cost
  • produced “programming ready” illustrations and nested animations to integrate into game development pipeline
